Opal Vial Wand with Amphibole Quartz and Amethyst "Past Perfect" Necklace
A glass vial is filled with hand-cut pieces of Australian Coober Pedy Opal with reddish matrix, floating and falling in a slow-moving proprietary liquid. Encased in pure copper, with a Goethite-included Amethyst point gripped in copper. On the face of the piece is a murky blue-gold Swarovski crystal. At the bottom of the piece is a natural Amphibole Quartz point with wisps of reddish inclusions. Two small round bails intersect above and below the vial, and a large round bail connects a pure copper cable chain. All of the copper is dipped in Liver of Sulfur to darken it, then hand-polished to bring back the high points.
PAST PERFECT//FUTURE PERFECT
noun
/ˈpæst ˈpɜr·fɪkt/ /ˈfju·tʃər pɜr·fIkt/
"The past perfect refers to a time earlier than before now. It is used to make it clear that one event happened before another in the past. It does not matter which event is mentioned first - the tense makes it clear which one happened first.
"The future perfect refers to a completed action in the future. When we use this, we are projecting ourselves forward into the future and looking back at an action that will be completed some time later than now."
Saline, crystalline, uterine. Mysterious and ever-changing. Dive deep. You are held by the sea, it is luminescent and blooming with fantastic creatures. Air trapped like a diving bell, a pocket of time preserved. Colors that lull and spark with electric shock. Travel down, down to the deep ocean floor where mermaids soar above. Bubbles race up and current around you cools. Rays of light filter down and illuminate specks of floating creatures so small, like dust above. Feel like flying, feel the water ripple your skin, you are like water, mostly water, with hair, bone, flesh, and fin. Slip through time, an aquanaut navigating the currents deep beyond the light of day. Be at once a part of, and completely separate from, the passage of time. Explore the moment, find tranquility and contentment with present. An amulet of reconciliation: ancient past and deep future. Connect to the strands that flow and bind through all of space and time; a magical ward of distillation, unifying all timelines.
SPECIAL CARE:
This necklace is made with real glass. Please wear this one-of-a-kind treasure with extra concern and care. It is best worn close to the heart, without other necklaces. Please do not drop or allow it to fall against hard surfaces. Hang it or put it in a jewelry box when not being worn. In spite of its mermaid energy, it is not meant to be worn for deep dives in the water. Remove before wading off into the ocean or the shower to preserve the patina. Do not expose to drastic temperature changes like freezing, or being left in the sun. The epoxy seal is strong, but glass is still glass.
The pendant measures 3 1/2" tall, the bail is 2 1/2" wide and the body of the pendant is about 3/4" wide.

ELECTRO MAGIC:
I create jewelry and curiosities by "growing" copper onto crystals and other organics using an alchemical hybrid process: Electroforming. In my cauldron of neon blue electrolyte solution, I brood over, coax, and observe my creations as they begin to take shape. The process takes twelve hours, up to three days, with each piece forming bumps, nodules, lines, and deep grooves along the way. Some of my pieces are darkened with a Liver of Sulfur solution and polished with oil; others are left shiny and bare. All of my pieces are left unsealed, which allows them to continue to age and oxidize, giving you a living, breathing adornment that is truly dynamic and ever-changing.
CARE FOR YOUR PIECE:
Please handle your handmade jewelry with care; avoid dropping it or inflicting heavy trauma or stress. While copper is sturdy enough for daily wear, it is a softer metal and can be misshapen under stress. Crystals and gemstones, especially in raw form, also need to be treated kindly. Avoid submersion in water and direct exposure to lotions, oils, perfumes, and harsh cleaners. These can permanently discolor some stones or tarnish the copper. To clean your jewelry, simply buff gently with a soft cloth to remove perspiration and oils. Some people with certain chemistry experience temporary discoloration of the skin when wearing copper jewelry, especially on the fingers and the back of the neck. This is the "Green Ghost" of oxidation and can be washed off the skin with soap and warm water, if you desire.
NATURAL STONES:
The crystals I use are hand-picked and inspected by me personally before I put them into jewelry. As they are natural treasures from the earth, some inclusions, fractures, pitting, mineral deposits, and other irregularities are very common. It is my belief that these imperfections add to the mystery and charm of these creations - just like us, they are flawed.
Flashes of light in stones such as Opal, Rainbow Obsidian, Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite and others are often best observed from a certain angle or in certain light; however, I do work to orient my stones so that they will shine their brightest when worn.
