Purple Labradorite, Peach, and Gray Moonstone "Warm Heart" Necklace
A pure copper electroformed necklace with an oval Labradorite cabochon with purple and blue flash, shimmering gray Moonstone rose-cut in the center, and a color-shifting peach Moonstone inverted teardrop at the bottom. Two small round bails at the top connect a pure copper cable chain with a copper-plated brass lobster clasp. Hand dipped in Liver of Sulfur to darken the copper, hand polished to bring out the high points.
The pendant measures 3" long from top of bails to bottom of pendant, and about 1 7/8" at the widest point, and is 3/8" deep.
WARM HEART:
There is an unexpected gentleness to the pastels of fall. Skies fade early into lavenders and pinks. Faint frost softens the color of every surface it touches some mornings. Wind tenderly coaxes down the last of faded leaves, their intense colors lost to the afternoon sun. Light gray steam wisps from breath, evidence of the glow of heat that emanates from deep within us. We are alive as always, if subdued in this season.
November. Leaves turn to mulch for next year’s growth. Rose hips swell. Feathers fall from birds in southward flight. Crisp mornings give way to warm afternoons, that fade far too quickly. Home fills with warmth, children giggle and snuggle sluggish cats who lounge on piles of blankets strewn about. The color of flushed cheeks, bare branches, soft down comforters. Twinkling lights to ward off darkness. The smell of deep spice that brings heat to the belly and fingers and toes.
Fall has settled in, giving way to winter... and with it, this amulet to embody the comforts of home and hearth.
Labradorite for intuition, wisdom. Keen understanding and insight into the emotions of self and others. Gray Moonstone represents new beginnings, as well as protection and future sight. For guidance by the new moon in matters of uncanny wisdom. A touch of cool, like air low to the ground - refreshing and invigorating. Peach Moonstone represents the effects of the moon on our emotional flow. Warm like a seat near an embered fire, the heart, the embrace of a loved one. Softness and transparency of emotion in communication, empathy, Connection. Family healing and mending during the long dark nights ahead.

ELECTRO MAGIC:
I create jewelry and curiosities by "growing" copper onto crystals and other organics using an alchemical hybrid process: Electroforming. In my cauldron of neon blue electrolyte solution, I brood over, coax, and observe my creations as they begin to take shape. The process takes twelve hours, up to three days, with each piece forming bumps, nodules, lines, and deep grooves along the way. Some of my pieces are darkened with a Liver of Sulfur solution and polished with oil; others are left shiny and bare. All of my pieces are left unsealed, which allows them to continue to age and oxidize, giving you a living, breathing adornment that is truly dynamic and ever-changing.
CARE FOR YOUR PIECE:
Please handle your handmade jewelry with care; avoid dropping it or inflicting heavy trauma or stress. While copper is sturdy enough for daily wear, it is a softer metal and can be misshapen under stress. Crystals and gemstones, especially in raw form, also need to be treated kindly. Avoid submersion in water and direct exposure to lotions, oils, perfumes, and harsh cleaners. These can permanently discolor some stones or tarnish the copper. To clean your jewelry, simply buff gently with a soft cloth to remove perspiration and oils. Some people with certain chemistry experience temporary discoloration of the skin when wearing copper jewelry, especially on the fingers and the back of the neck. This is the "Green Ghost" of oxidation and can be washed off the skin with soap and warm water, if you desire.
NATURAL STONES:
The crystals I use are hand-picked and inspected by me personally before I put them into jewelry. As they are natural treasures from the earth, some inclusions, fractures, pitting, mineral deposits, and other irregularities are very common. It is my belief that these imperfections add to the mystery and charm of these creations - just like us, they are flawed.
Flashes of light in stones such as Opal, Rainbow Obsidian, Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite and others are often best observed from a certain angle or in certain light; however, I do work to orient my stones so that they will shine their brightest when worn.
